With supporting funds from our TLEF Dr. Elyse Yeager, Instructor in the UBC Math Department, was able to enlist the services of UBC student Nick Loewen to develop an accessibility-focused style guide for CLP, the Math Department’s series of open calculus textbooks. The style guide provides recommendations for creating clear and consistent images with a focus on selecting accessible colours for the representation of mathematical figures. An up-to-date version of the style guide can be found online. As of April 2019, Dr. Yeager and her colleagues are in the process of implementing the recommended accessibility standards into their roster of textbooks.
